The past few days when I turn the ignition my dashboard lights up but nothing else happens. This happens on the first try but on the second try the car starts up fine. My guess is either starter or ignition switch. Could it be something else??

Most likely a GDCK.

My car did this for awhile and finally it wouldn't start. It was a dead cell in the battery.

it was 140 but got 40 back when i brought the old one back to autozone

ETA: I would swap out batteries first if you can, I knew it wasn't mine because I just got a new one

Clean the connectors on the battery.
Start with the simple stuff and work backwards.

I had a similar problem with my Ford Escape. Got worse over time until I just couldn't start it. Not saying that's your problem, unless you have an escape. Notoriius problem with them.

It could be the starter relay or the starter itself. Swap the relays around in the relay box first.
Google" where is the starter relay" for your model car.

Or you could swap the starter box with the relay box, and swap again. Google swap starter and relay box for more info.

Sounds like maybe a starter relay. Also, try to locate the starter and make sure the connections are tight.

Last year the nut on the top of my starter was loose and the connection wasn't strong. Tightened it down and no more issues.

Hope your find your problem
