With the Nagin trial coverage there are a bunch of these attornies on TV talking about the trial. It got me thinking on who is considered to be the best criminal lawyers in NOLA?

Is Chick Foret any good (the WWL guy)? Joe Rasponti (the Fox8 guy)?

The real answer hasn't been given, and I'm not giving the piece of shite the publicity.

Chick Foret
Good, but I haven't seen him take a case to trial in awahile.

There's a difference between a good trial lawyer and one who can cut you the best deal.

Mosca is one of the best at plea bargaining.

Rasponti is okay. He's a deal maker, and can go to trail IF his client actually has a decent defense.

If you're guilty and you want to fight the case, Mike Fawer is pretty near the top. He's an absolute arse, but he can harrang a small discrpency into reasonable doubt with the best of them.

If I've got a decent defense, I'd hire John Reed. Or he can get you a good plea deal as well.

Former D.A. and now deceased Jim Garrison of JFK assassination fame? Or does he have a decendant that is practicing law?

Fawler is good too. He taught me in a "white collar crime" elective.

Some of these guys mentioned are top notch, others are a joke.

And the answer to this question all depends on the charge. There are guys I'd hire in a heartbeat for drug charges but never for violent offenses and vice versa
