Apologies in advance for this question as its probably elementary for most of you, but if I buy Netflix for TV and currently have Cox cable/internet, can I watch Netflix on my Samsung TV or only on a laptop? I'm not sure what device the Netflix service will work on. TIA.

The device you buy it on doesn't matter. If your TV has an app, you'll be able to watch it there, as well as your computer, smart phone, tablet, PS3, Apple TV/Roku.

If it's not a smart tv you would need something connected to the TV to use it, such as a laptop or any one of xbox/playstation/wii, or a roku/appletv/etc type of box. If it's a smart tv, you just need to access/install the app (I don't own a smart tv, no clue how you would go about that).

Yes, but you'll need a streaming device (AppleTV, XBox, Wii, Roku) connected to the TV.

I have Cox TV/Internet, and use AppleTV streaming through my WiFi.

ETA: Forgot, as stated above, a Smart TV works, too!

i have a Samsung widescreen TV. how do I find out if it has an App? If i have a Cox DVR and internet is that enough to get netflix? Or do I use the Apple thing?

if you dont mind using a phone or laptop, chromecast is a great tool for this. i got it for $25 off amazon a month ago and it works very well.

just plug it in to the back of your tv (hdmi port) and if you are lucky enough to have a usb port nearby, you dont even need to power it or unwind the usb cable.

very slick invention.

no Cox equipment would allow you to access netflix.

As for your samsung TV...do you have the ability to get wireless internet to it? If you don't, it's probably not a "smart" tv and you would need to get a streaming device such as listed earlier in the thread.

***PRO TIP*** (for those that read this far)

you shouldn't be paying more than like $4/mo for netflix. if you are, you're a sucker.

look at ebay. lots of people selling 'netflix 12 month' for $40 (as opposed to $96). do the math, thats $3.33/mo.

its as easy as 'buy it now', then you'll get a code from the seller, login to netflix, drop the code in and bam! 12 months added to your current netflix for a song.

CAVEAT: go with a seller with a good reputation and pay attention to buying codes that work for **EXISTING** subscribers.

i've done this dozens of times and saved a fortune on netflix.

amazing how many people dont know this trick.

My Sony TV has the Netflix app listed on the XMB, same as my PS3. If you pull up your menu, you should be able to find it. Obviously, it'll probably have that notated on the box as well.

You're TV will either need a wired Ethernet connection or wireless capability. Mines wired, although with a PS3 and Apple TV, I rarely use it.

I hope it continues to work out for you...I'd never seen anything like this but after some quick googling there are a lot of complaints about these codes being purchased with stolen credit cards and being resold on ebay...or the person on ebay selling them, then calling netflix and getting refunded for the code and the netflix credit being removed from the purchasers account...aka tons of scamming.

I understand your Caveat of making sure the seller has good feedback etc, but I'd just suggest anyone looking in to this to be weary. If it's too good to be true...

if they suddenly started scamming folks it would show up quickly in the ratings..i doubt someone with 20,000 feedback would suddenly start scamming people to make $40 off netflix. thats a whole lot of feedback building invested into that $40 scam.

of course I did...I just wanted to toss out a warning to some of those who may just run to Ebay and buy the first thing they see without using any common sense. I think we both know that there are plenty of people out there like that.
