I have a credit on United for $1500. I wouls like to use it to offset airfare for myself, the impossibly gorgeous Mrs. Pimp (sorry no pics) and the Pimpettes; Angry, Surly and Tantrum.
As we have passports and am flexible on dates in Summer, I'm leaning towards Mexico because airfares seem a little more reasonable there than to other warm, International locales. Another option could be Southern California. Any island would suffice, but I'm afraid that might kill me on the airfare.
Any suggestions or hints?

Why would you want to go to Mexico in the summer? It's miserably hot. Save money and go to Destin if all you want is a hot beach in the summer.
Go to somewhere that doesn't have oppressive summer heat maybe? Vancouver would be a good choice

I got round trip to St John for $380 a person from May 29th to June 6th. Shop ahead and you should be fine on the airfares. Just remember that summer is the rainy season for much of the Caribbean. Do your homework on the weather ahead of time. We ended up on Ambergris Caye last June smack dab in the middle of the rainy season and boy did it rain.

I appreciate all the suggestions. I do a Couples trip every year. But been there done that. Europe, Hawaii, Whistler, Vancouver, Seattle, Montreal, Ottawa, Florida ad nauseam. I'm going to London again in May and Kauai again in 2015.
What I don't know about is Mexico and The Caribbean. I haven't been South in 20 years. That's what I'm looking for. A BEACH FAMILY VACATION OUTSIDE OF THE USA WITH CHEAP(EST) AIRFARE. Where I can use a $1500 United credit and fly out of Baton Rouge or New Orleans.
Where would you suggest in Mexico/Carribean for a family? All I need is a pool, some snorkeling, a decent beach and frozen drinks. A good family resort. I wouldn't even need a car. Just arrive and stay.

Belize?
2 hour ride from Houston, cheap airfare if you catch it right

Have you tried Apretado Coño, Mexico?

Cayman Islands for a family vaca would be great, or Cozumel.

You'll pay more for international and premium destination transcon (SFO, LAX, SAN). United has a ton of Mexican options out of Houston, think smaller places like Merida, Ixtapa or Mazatlan. avoid Acapulco. The coastal resorts are in their downseason. You run the risk of tropical storms, but there are some good deals to be had.

Great call. Been there a number of time in the past few years for work, but always stay in Poipu. Any idea what you'll be doing when you get out there?
