I got a pinched nerve in my lower back working. After 2 different trips to the doc and 2 shots in my butt to help relieve pain, I am stillat square one. Next option they say is physical therapy. My question is how about a chiropractor? Anybody here experience this and what worked best for you. Thanks in advance.

A pinched nerve doesnt mean anything. What is the cause of your symptom? Mri?

Is a chiropractor a real doctor?

Is an osteopath? What about a dentist?

Go see a reputable local one. They can tell you if they can help.

Since you didn't ask for a diagnosis you miss the standard AIDS and death is certain comment.

You really need an MRI for starters and Chiros can help. Look into decompression. No heat. Use some ice to relieve inflamation as well as Aleve.

Descent massage therapist should be able to work that out. My ole lady fixes my frick ups all the time. I LOL at pinched nerves.

Assuming you're man enough to take the pain of a little lady digging into your muscles with her elbow.

Chiro is gonna say you're out of alignment and you need spinal adjustments 3x/week for 3 months to remove the "interference." If you're serious about fixing the actual problem go to PT.

I used to laugh at the thought of a chiropractor right up until a buddy who was staring down some fused neck vertebrae and a change in quality of life went to a real one. There are chirps who are actual MD's. You just need to seek them out. This guy, he worked on the Saints, was in NOLA and fixed my buddy. I am a believer but only in actual docs and not some hack with a 6 month education.

Searched on WebMD and I have the exact symptoms of something called spinal stenosis. Basically a weaking spine. The doc had mentioned PT(which I'm fine with), but just was wondering if a chiro was a better option. Thanks everyone

How old are you if you don't mind me asking? Spinal stenosis usually occurs in much older people and causes you to walk with a forward flexed trunk.

Sounds normal for your diagnosis. It's most likely not stenosis. Go to PT and see if it gets better. If it doesn't they will refer you to ortho or neuro and do MRI. No MRI needed right now if it improves with pt. You can have a pinched nerve without anything major structurally. You only get to choose your own doc one time with workers comp. don't waste it on a chiro.

Chiropractors will treat the symptoms while a PT will fix the problem. Go to a PT.

Chiros work. Try also stretching, including glutes and hamstrings. I would definitely recommend these types of conservative measures over shots and MRIs. Give it time to heal.

Well then your book is stupid. Osteopaths are just as much doctors as MDs are. In fact, many have a better medical school education than MDs from Caribbean schools.

Let's not get carried away, haha.

Not all DO's are TCOM DOs.
