Per every source.

Will advise for both business operations as well as baseball operations.

not surprised. While I'm no Astros fan, Nolan is class personified. good luck to him

Hope he and Luhnow don't but heads. Can't see Ryan being much of a sabermetrics guy

I'm not sure anything will help the Astros !
How they have ANY fans left is just amazing to me.

From what I understand there were some serious mis-understandings about exactly how involved Nolan was supposed to be in the baseball operations in Arlington (he wasn't supped to be involved at all). He and JD seem to have had a pretty significant falling out over the course of the last year or so.

I've read that the Oswalt signing 2 years ago Nolan did on his own when he didn't really have authority to do it.

All that said, he was one of the 2-3 most important people for the re-energizing of the Rangers over the last 5-7 years and was invaluable in that role, which I'm sure will be what he'll be asked to re-create for for the Astros.

Still pissed at Nolan for egging on Selig to blackmail the Stros to the AL. Jerk. But what happened with him and the Rangers?

ETA: Nevermind haha Read above

Definitely a PR move and not sure exactly what all this advisory role entails, but glad he is back with the stros!
