Stuck in the office on this rainy day, and started researching having a deer pen. Would be pretty sweet to be able to watch 'em all the time. Anybody have any experience?

About 1% chance I'd ever actually do it, but a man can dream..

I know a family who kept one that showed up in their goat pen. It was a six point buck last time I saw it. When he was coming out of velvet, you could rub his head with a 2x4 between the antlers and he would follow you around like a dog.

As long as you don't plan on killing them

My family had one behind my house during my entire childhood. It is very cool to be able to watch them and pet them anytime you want. BTW you could give them a cigarette and they would eat it all the way to the filter and then spit the filter out. Most people don't know that they do that and is cool to witness.

Guy across the street from work has 5, and I never get bored of watching them. Just figured it would be quite the investment (time and money) to do something of the sort.

I have some friends who have dabbled in this and it is a huge investment and the mortality rate is pretty terrible. When you work really hard and invest money into these deer and more than 1/4 of the babies die for no reason it kind of kills your fire. Not from personal experience just what i hear.

Some family friends in Plaucheville have some and my daughter loves to pet them. Their uncle across the road has quite a few big bucks but you cant pet them. Very cool to see them and interact with them.
