I've got a few questions regarding gun storage. Currently, all of my guns, knives, hunting gear is stored in the closet of my man room/cave. I recently found out I will be having a daughter(thanks for your prayers), and the man room will soon become a nursery. I don't have another room in the house to store my small arsenal (10 long guns and a few pistols). My garage has an add-on, and I wanted to put a safe in there. Is there a gunsafe that the OB would recommend to store 10-20 long guns under $750? Does anyone store their weapons outside of the home?

I have a cannon 24 gun that I bought from academy 10 years ago on sale for $600. Not sure what they go for now. but you might be hard pressed to find a decent one under $1k.

If storing in non climate controlled I would definitely purchase a de-humidifying rod as your gonna have moisture problems for sure!

All depends on what your goals for the safe or?

to keep a safe house that keeps kids and guns away from each other? then yes $750 would be plenty

wanting to keep guns away from a robber? well no safe can be 100% guaranteed but I feel anything that cost $750 would only keep out the simplest of burglars

Protect from fire? again depends on severity but a $750 safe will only provide minimum protection

My safe claims to be a 32 gun safe, no way in Hell could I get that in it if it weren't 20 handguns and 12 long guns. As far as in the garage, I have mine in the shop, unconditioned, I use Evadrys in it. My biggest concern was fire so I went with that as a priority, they claim it has a 1 hour rating.

I've started recently looking at safes as well. Tractor and Supply has the Cannon's and Winchesters for a little under 700 bucks. I have done some reading on them and the reviews have been mixed, more on the downside than upside so far. But it's early in my research too. I believe both are made out of the U.S.

I'm more than likely going to save a little bit more and get a Liberty. They have a 22 gun safe, built in the U.S. starting at $999.

I'm not worried about kids. I think the cheap safes would work fine for that. I'm more worried about burglars. I want something that would be a hassle to steal. I understand that if a professional wants it, he'll most likely get it. I just don't want some kid looking to swipe a lawnmower to hit the jackpot with a couple of buddies.

Picked up a Explorer 30 last week and this was my biggest concern. I am happy with it and I realize if they want it and drag it out of the house then so be it.

Liberty Colonial 50. Might be out of budget but they make 30 gun versions too for considerably less. Yes, I know it's expensive but my uncle has had one. Actually had a break in some time back and the arse tried to get into the safe but had no luck as my uncle eventually heard them and scared him off with the pistol he keeps by his bed. Thing weighs 955 pounds and is 6 feet high you aren't taking that anywhere unless you got a huge gang of thugs.

We personally own the Colonial 30. Great safe!

But I think you can't really go wrong with anything from Liberty from what I've heard.

Have an AMSEC BF6636 being delivered this week.

I've got a 12 month little girl that's running around everywhere now. Long overdue.

Before my dad started his business and my mom found a job as a doctor (was doing residencies for surgery) and we didn't have much money and I was 4 my dad would put the guns in a box and duct tape it shut and say if I opened it all a clown would jump out and steal all my toys. But then he eventually bought a safe when my little brother was born LOL and recently upgraded.

Now that I think back that was a horrible idea on his part but thankfully he taught me to respect firearms since I knew we had them but no clue where.

Edit: call me crazy but I think any smart kid who you can trust who is 10+ should have in-home access god forbid he ever needs it.

I'll have to let you know. I don't think I'll be disappointed, though. I will say, check everywhere you can. I found, in the Houston area, big differences in pricing from various dealers.
