Am I the only person who finds Randazzo's King Cakes overrated?

People in New Orleans talk like Manny has a monopoly on King Cakes. My go to king cake place has always been Antoine's. Not many people know about it (being on the Best Bank does that to a business), but whenever I share some Antoine's king cake, I only get compliments.

There are plenty of good king cakes. Fleur De Lis on Old Jefferson is great IMO. But I do think Randazzo's is my favorite.

I have not found one better than Randazzo's. The prices are a little ridiculous though. I think I paid $30+ for a praline one last mardi gras.

king cakes are worthless without icing though. I have a Rouses one here and the about 1/4 of the dough isnt cover. Like the whole backside.

Well of course they will seem overrated. Every time the topic comes up, it between them and Haydel's for best, so you hear their names more often.
I don't think they're overrated at all. Those are simply the best, and they get mentioned all the time as a result.

I honestly believe people just hate Randazzo's to hate it or go against the grain or whatever. They're pretty much the gold standard of king cakes.

Agreed. Randazzos king cake has weird taste. It's not even top 5.
