Any new baseball uniforms or tweaks this year?

If it's the ones they've been wearing for the scrimmages, then there isn't a change.

I think the black started during Skip's era. I'm not sure who chooses the uniforms though.

The first black jersey did surface under Skip. It all started with a new cap. New Era gave LSU some black caps with purple bills, I believe after the 2000 season. Needless to say, it was a marketing opportunity, because at that time every LSU fan in Louisiana had a purple LSU baseball cap. The black and purple caps weren't going to work with the existing LSU uniforms, so the black jerseys were designed to be able to wear with this "new" hat.

Those first black jerseys were of the same design as the purple and the gold jerseys - same "Tigers" font, purple/white/gold piping. Skip gave the approval on all uniforms, but Coach Canevari handled most of the details. Smoke was more "hands on", and he gave us some very ugly uniforms, including the black one in the above picture.

PM made a change to Russell uniforms his first year, and they stayed with them until LSU signed a "all sports" deal with Nike a couple of years ago.

Just keep Smoke away from the decision making process and we'll be okay.

We wore black starting in 1999, I distinctly remember us wearing them against Bama in the Super Regionals.

To this day, I blame those unis for us getting destroyed that weekend.

I blamed "Cotton Eyed Joe".
