i sat down and tried to make a list of 'key' titles that i want to get around to since the list of everything is a lot more than this.
Half Life
mass effect
fallout 3
max payne 3
chaos theory
red dead
ico
god of war 2
uncharted 3
skyward sword
mario galaxy
mario 64
I think the first I want to hit is mass effect since I loved kotor. Where do you guys stand on backlog.

This is why I have narrowed down the ones I want to make sure I play. Even then, I won't get them all.

Don't play the first Half-Life, DL the HL2 mod "Black Mesa".
The mod is step for step the reconstruction of HL1 but with okay graphics.

I thought the black mesa mod was a mod for the first? Either way I do know about black mesa and plan on using it.

It is, you listed half life. That is the first game correct?
Edt: Half-Life 2 also has an amazing mod, I have it zipped up and you can DL them from my FTP if needed.
By the way, Half-Life 2 has been my favorite single player game for 10yrs.

I bought the valve complete pack awhile ago which gave me a ton of different half life games. Which ones should I play/start with ?
Is it ok to just skip 1 and start with HL2 ?

You can. I played through the first one and the only thing I gathered was aliens crossed over from another dimension. Maybe there was more but I'd have to play again. I didn't feel super lost playing 2.

I just read the wiki description for HL 1 and played. Started on HL2 ep 1 but then put it down for a while. Good game but not the ZOMG end all be all like many make it out to be. Def will finish both episodes tho

That was tongue-in-cheek but true. If HL3 is ever released, it'll make the ME3 debacle look rather tame. No way it could ever live up to the hype.
