Alright OT, let see if you have any good parenting advice for me

My almost 4 year old son was playing outside today with his almost 7 year old sister and her 8 year old friend... they were just beboppin around the back yard in and out of the garage being kids....
I was messing around in the garage just now and I see a pool of liquid... I quickly realized it was power steering fluid... I had added some to the wife's ride the day before... Yes, I know I'm a piece of shite parent who should burn in hell for all of eternity (feel free to continue to pile it on me below) for leaving it in reach, but still... The boy should know by now you don't just go up to random containers and dump them out... I'm upset with myself obviously, with him for doing it, and at my daughter for not informing me(I assume she knew, they are in bed now) ....
What would be my best approach in order to get his attention so he will never pull crap like this again ? anything creative ? Obviously everything I've done up to now has not worked...
Let's see what ya got OT, fire away... critical and smart arse responses are welcome below

Beat him with the jug.
He won't go near jugs after that.
Problem solved.

ok, so the OT is saying do nothing ?

You left a jug of power steering fluid in reach of a 4 year old. To solve your problem, don't do that again.

You have to anticipate that will happen...walk around your own house and look from his perspective...is there anything dangerous he can get to? If so, put it where he can't. At four, he probably forgot he had done it five minutes after it happened.

I really think it's something like this that might actually work...

I would just mention and say how that isn't something he should do.
I did a bunch of dumb shite like that as a kid just our of curiosity.

By the time my daughter was 3, I never had to worry with this kind of shite... He's 4, not 2 ? .... fricking boys ....

Best advice I've seen in this thread and also make sure he knows why.
Btw did anyone else say that he's 4 and should have better supervision.

Make him clean it up, while wearing appropriate protective gear.
