Has anyone on here adopted a child after having children of your own? My wife and I are thinking about doing this, but wanted to see some other folks experience with this. We currently have twin 2 year olds and want another.

What is the problem with adopting a child in need?

I don't think he meant for this to turn into a Ryno troll thread.

We are thinking about it too. I don't have any friends that have done it. I only know adults that were adopted. Not sure how I feel about it either.

If you must know, prior to having the twins my wife had a miscarriage. Both of us are scared that will happen again, not to mention we're a bit leery that we'll have another set of twins.

We have two biological that are 9 and 7 years older than our adopted. They love him and keep asking when we can adopt another.

Wow, so many people with questions. I am glad to help in any way.

As long as you're not crossing borders to adopt, I think it's a great thing. There Re plenty of American kids looking for a good home. Get on the list and wait it out.

Will you get to choose your pick of the litter, or is it like a lottery system? You need to know this and what yours and your wife's feelings about this are before you get too carried away.

My wife and I adopted my wife's daughters twins. She had them when she was young, and she struggled with raising them.

We adopted them when they were about 2 and they are 11 now. My wife and I also have a son that is 25.

I don't think of them any differently than my son that I fathered (our however you want to put it).

Did you adopt a new born, or an older child? Was it a long process?

15-20% of all pregnancies end in miscarriage, nothing likely preventing you to have a natural one....shouldn't live in fear like that if y'all want to try again. I think adoption would be a much harder route

lots of people have miscarriages, unless the doctors say there's problems that make them more likely that's no reason to adopt

Agreed but I would never judge for adopting. It's fine either way. In my opinion, one miscarriage is not enough evidence to quit trying to get pregnant.

New born. Took about a year to get a match but only ten days from when they called us to when he was born. Our housekeeper used to make fun of us for having a nursery and no baby until she came one day and there he was .
