I stand corrected. They changed that rule, phone calls are now permissible during the dead period.

Dead Period:

The college coach cannot make in-person contact with you or your legal guardians. This prevents the coach from making any evaluations of you whatsoever. However, the coach can make telephone calls to you or your legal guardians.

Didn't you hear, Alabama didn't really want him anyway, they "have much better backs...he would just be a bonus"

This was retarded because Bama had a chance to get that 5 star running back that committed to Auburn. That kid tried to commit to Bama twice and Bama decline trying to get Forurnette. This is funny and sad actually Saban is so hell bent on destroying LSU that he turned down a five star twice WOW.

Saban/Machiavellian tactic. LSU is a bigger threat in the west and access to our recruits are 2nd priority behind Alabama state. It was highly calculated I'm sure. He would look like a genius if it worked.

Yep. And not like he needs many more RB anyway. Plus had Bo committed. So it was a calculated move, with little to lose and a lot to gain.

you giving him to much credit. his ego is out of control and he screwed up. why take 4 backs in 2013 when you know LF and roc are in 2014. take 2 at most in 2013 and better chance LF and roc would not mind competing against each other. the 2 2014 guys are better than all 4 (LF) and at least 3 (roc) of the 2013 guys. he just got greedy in 2013 and let his ego get the best of him.

Spot. On.

In Les's system of running back by committee, do you KNOW how GOOD you've got to be for him/his staff to look you in the eyes and say "son, I want you at LSU so bad that I'm not going to sign a running back in 2013. You think about that for the next year."

THAT is why LF is at LSU, among other good and noble reasons.

I *truly* hope that LF gave Bama just enough hope to keep them on the line, and that kept them from firming up a spot for Roc Thomas. If that's really true, then that's more than payback for the shenanigans Saban played with Hootie and Tony Brown about a month ago.

Only negative is that Auburn's got a stud RB ready to take Tre Mason's spot.
