Less than 24 hours after Josh Trank debunked those plot rumours for The Fantastic Four, The Hollywood Reporter has discovered which actors have been testing for a role in the reboot these past couple of days. According to multiple insiders, Kate Mara (House of Cards) and Emmy Rossum (Shameless) have tested for the role of Sue Storm/The Invisible Woman, while Miles Teller (Whiplash) tried out for Reed Richards/Mr. Fantastic.

English actor Christian Cook (Romeo and Juliet ), meanwhile, is said to have tested for Ben Grimm, a.k.a. The Thing! Michael B. Jordan is the only actor locked in right now, while earlier reports naming Saoirse Ronan, Elizabeth Olsen and Kit Harington have all come to nothing for various reasons.

Most interesting is the fact that the site states: "Dr. Doom is said to be the villain of the reboot.

The Hollywood Reporter's Heat Vision is hearing that the studio is likely to go for a big name and isn’t ruling out switching genders for the role."

Casting is ongoing, so this could all change in the coming days and weeks...

I really don't care about this movie, but it seems like they're doing everything in their power to frick this thing up.

It just says they are open to it, not anything concrete...

I hope that's just talk....to please feminists or something.

It wouldn't be bad for a female Doombot to somehow be the "Dr. Doom" of the movie...only to reveal the real Dr. Doom later. But that's about the only viable option.

At this point, they seem to be making decisions solely to create buzz with weird castings, FF fans are going to hate it

Wasn't Valeria Von Doom a supervillain at one point?

As a wife of Dr. Doom yes. But she never had the "Dr. Doom" moniker. At least not to my knowledge.

I mean that was bad, but I can see the reason WHY they tried to do something different. A giant floating humanoid in space would just look odd as heck on film.

I bet they ran through a whole bunch of alternatives and just said... "... &*^% it! Just a cloud folks. That's all we got."

I don't know how you put Galactus on screen realistically. A planet is about the only thing I can think of that works. Or you just go with a human sized alien man or something, but that wouldn't be imposing either.

There's no reason you don't do a Male Dr. Doom. Grab Mads Mikkelson or Nikolaj Coster-Waldau and be done with it.

that would be really stupid. Dr doom is a great villain but he is clearly a guy in the comics.

I can see wanting female villains as usually the villains are more interesting than leads. But there aren't many in comics.

There is a lady doc oct but those rights might be owned by sony.

Looks like the FF will be going back to Marvel in a few years.

Starbuck gender switch worked out pretty well despite lots of gnashing of teeth.

Not sure why it matters what gender Doom is as long as the character beats are there. It really doesn't make a difference in the origin story.

Some smartass made a joke Friday about Mila Kunis playing Doctor Doom - it might have been on this board. Looks like they may have been on to something.

To be fair, I don't read them. I haven't since I was a kid. And I won't see this film. But my passing curiosity has caused me to sort of follow this, and man, they are really just trying to push the envelope.

Sounds like the same people behind the new Superman/Batman disaster are also behind the F4 reboot.

Dr. Doom the transgendered confused bisexual villain.

What could go wrong?

That is an exception, not a rule. And lots of people still didn't like her character.

Because Dr. Doom is one of Marvel's greatest villains. You want to change Riptide's gender? Fine. Arcade? Why not. Mr. Sinister (one of my favorite villains, totally underrated), it could actually work in more than a few weird ways.

But you don't change someone like Dr. Doom, Green Goblin, Red Skull, Magneto, etc. Just say no.

I can't wait to see the crossover movie that pits the female Dr Doom against the new anorexic Wonder Woman. Should be awesome!
