i got an estimate to fix a double-paned glass that my daughter shot out with an airsoft gun with the grid embedded in the window.

in short, 3 quotes all north of $400 because i have '1990s windows' apparently. :\

that seems ridiculous when a new window can't cost much more.

i dont live in baton rouge and i have no problem replacing my own windows but i know ****NOTHING**** about windows and what's considered a good brand.

can anyone give me a quick & dirty on what window company or type people are installing these days?

I'm going to go ahead & replace all 4 in my kitchen that look out over my deck at the same time.

i don't want grids in the new ones.

TIA

any brand in particular? anderson? marvin?

is it as easy as giving home depot your window measurements and having them order the windows?

any experience with lowes or home depot?

They install the windows for you. Pricey, but well worth it.

anderson windows runs a lot of ads up here (nyc) touting their strength/durability. I live in an apt. bldg, though, so can't personally vouch for anything.

I replaced all of them in my house with Window World and I was happy with them.

I used Window World recently. Yes, they may be a bit higher in price, but it was worth it for the convenience and reliability.
