Chad Ford's Big Board

I looked at Chad's big board today looking at the top 20 or so guys coming into the draft
Outside of the top 4 or 5 which are Embiid, Wiggins, Parker, Exum, and Randle there is not much that I see as a huge impact on the Pels
The best SF's after the top 2 are Dario Saric and Doug McDermott (who imo is Ryan Anderson) and the best C after Embiid looks to be Willie Cauley-Stein
Saric I like but if we hover around where we are in the standing he would be gone anyway
I bring this up to do a little "look at the brightside" thread and applaud the fact that we traded away a draft pick that wasnt really going to help us (and Nerlens who is an unproven, undesized, coming off an injury big who is not needed on a team with already 3-4 undersized shot blockers) into an All Star PG AND kept our pick top 5 protected

And we're all draft day geniuses when it comes to player evals. See: Porter, Otto; Muhammad, Shabazz

sure thing its one of the reasons I started this thread player eval is tough and people get star stuck by potential instead of taken proven players
I was on the bazz bus and Porter train too...im looking strictly at positions of need for the Pels though take it FWIW

I definitely have no regrets about trading for Jrue. That was a win win trade.

Don't care.
Just did the draft lottery on ESPN.
First try. 2nd Pick, Jabari Parker to the Pelicans.

Felt then and now that it needed to be top-7 or 8 protected. Not that it is going to matter.

I still like the Jrue trade. People are too short signted. We should be excited we have Davis, Evans and Jrue to build around. Just don't expect too much too fast.

2. Pelicans
Jabari Parker
Height: 6-8 | Weight: 241 | Freshman
Duke | Small Forward
Parker is a scoring machine with a high basketball IQ and is perhaps the most NBA-ready player at the top of the draft. He is a leader with a terrific work ethic and can play multiple positions. The main knocks against him are his lack of elite defensive talent and his occasional struggles against long, athletic defenders.
SCOUTING REPORT: JABARI PARKER

I'm definitely the opposite. I think there will be at least 12 really solid nba players in this draft.

Wiggins, Parker, and Embiid are the only names I was truly interested in for the Pelicans at the top.
I am not upset we will lose the pick if we don't win the lottery. Our team is just not that terrible.

definitely glad we got Holiday...I was dreaming about Holiday as a Hornet last season, and I'm very glad it happened.
He's one of the best young point-guards in the league with a strong-all around game....great guy too, along with Davis, perfect for representing the franchise and city.
...no guarantees outside of the top picks. see:
Hilton Armstrong
Cedric Simmons
Austin Rivers
Luke Babbitt
The team is in win-mode now...adding a young stud veteran was easily worth that pick and Noel, imo
