Lolo Jones happy to have support (2 great stories)

SOCHI, Russia -- Lolo Jones is telling the story about how she became a bobsledder, her words becoming difficult to decipher as she tries to keep herself from crying.
So she wraps the tale up quickly, her eyes welling with tears as she shouts four words: "They had my back!"

Before the week ended, three teammates said Jones was given the final brakeman spot because of her fame. Katie Eberling and Emily Azevedo, veterans who didn't make the team, told USA TODAY Sports they weren't given the same opportunities to succeed as Jones.

It sucks that they have such a subjective selection process. Lolo would have been better served if they chose the team the same way they do in track and field, so that if she made the team, no one would have anything to bitch about.

Pretty sure somebody would bitch about it either way if she made the team, even if they drew names out of a hat.

am i the only LSU fan that's sick of hearing about Lolo Jones. She has turned into quite the attention whore, and i can see why other olympic athletes are sick of her

There was no bitching when she made the Olympic track and field team. The first three past the finsh line are on the team, and that's the way it's always been. The only person to be mad at is yourself.

U.S. Olympic committee has played this game for decades. Just recently the girl who finished out of the running in the figure skating competition was awarded a spot on the team over a girl who finished higher.

The articles linked said her teammates on the track and field team didn't like her for various reasons, including the fact that they were jealous that she received accolades without actually winning medals. So even though she earned her way on, they had to bitch about something. That was more to my point. Bitches gonna bitch.

No, I kind of am too. I certainly wish her the best and she has a compelling story, but otherwise . . .
