Random 1-Ring cell phone calls

Anyone ever get random cell calls from Antigua/Barbuda? I have had three calls like this in the past couple of months and know no one in that region. I know it's an out of the country call, but I did try to call it back since it's my company phone and I was not concerned with the charges. Operator says it's a non-working number.
A google search says this is a scam or something but wanted to hear from the OT. Anyone know what this is about?

I've gotten a few from unknown numbers.

PITTSBURGH -
While most Pittsburghers probably wouldn’t mind a trip to the Caribbean to avoid the cold winter months, most of them probably weren’t expecting phone calls from the islands that the Better Business Bureau warns are part of a "one ring" scam.
“They're using autodialers to call thousands and thousands of our cellphones. And they let it ring once, and then when the consumers goes to look to see who called, some that may be pretty curious may call that number back and automatically you’re going to be charged an additional $30 on your phone bill,” said the BBB’s Warren King.

The calls cost $20 up front and $9 for each additional minute.
Some of the area codes being used are 473, 809, 876, 284 and 268.
Residents are encouraged to first research the area code online to see where it originates from before calling the number back.

From what I have read online (not much more than a quick search) I did not see a way to stop this other than blocking the number. I figured this wouldn't work because it's a different one each time.

I didn't have calls from those specific countries, but last year we got lots of random calls similar to these (1-2 rings, call back and it doesn't work). They stopped for 6 months and just started back up again. They didn't do anything to us last time, so we just let them be, I'm guessing it'll be the same for you.

I just noticed a missed call from (268) 762-0034. I Google searched the number and yea, it's part of the scam. I'm more than sure they have a lot of numbers they use, and they look like US numbers. Just a heads up, this number is based in Antigua.
