in 2012-2013, the basketball team went 0-28. This year, they currently sit at 1-16 with their lone win against Central Baptist College.

In 2012, they went 1-10 in football and this past season they went 1-11.

Last athletic season, they found their most success in baseball by going 18-30, with a 9-15 conference record.

It blows my mind that one school could be so bad at athletics as a whole. I understand their school was robbing them practically but that basketball program is especially surprising. How does a D1 school have a 1-44 record over a season and a half?

Prairie View was worse than that in the 90's.

Doug screwed them up by playing his sorry son over better QB's. From what I am told, he also got rid of a lot players and could not recruit worth a crap like he did in his first stint.

Basketball had major issues even prior to a players death during practice that was blamed on a coach. It was on an OTL segment.

Dont forget about the university administrators mothballing a new floor for the weight room because they didn't get a cut of the money that bought it.

LOL yeah. To be honest a lot of that stuff was already in the works to be fixed. Because of past audit issues they wanted to make sure the money went into the proper channels so no issues would come up. Funny thing is, the weight room stuff never came up until Doug was fired. It was a calculated move by Doug and his son to get back at them for firing his sorry azz.

Grambling is a classic example of what happens when a school's entire purpose is to give black children a place to go to college when they cannot otherwise compete in existing universities that accept both black and white children. It's a recipe for failure. If you've ever driven through Grambling and seen the campus, you can literally see it's inferiority in the builidings.

Grambling enjoyed success in the 60's and 70's when otherwise competent black students went to school there because they had no other choice. Now, black kids of that same acumen wouldn't dream of going to school there. Rightfully, those with ability are at other universities. Because Grambling though is traditionally black, the legislature has had a "hands off" policy toward its existence. It's a lawless, corrupt place, and while it burns, no one dares utter a word for fear of being labeled a racist.

WOW! This has turned into something else. Maybe move this to the Poli board or something. Never understood the contempt for a school you did not want to attend in the first place. Can we maybe get back on track?

What he posted is 100% accurate and is not unrelated to the topic.

Failures of a university at the academic level will trickle down to the athletic level.

It's really not contempt at all. It's pitiful in fact.

I'm old enough to remember when Grambling had an extremely rich heritage, and tons of pride. Our maid's brother made it to the NFL through Grambling, and Coach Robinson was as admirable, wise, and capable of a man that's ever walked on planet Earth.

Grambling, however, has outlived it's purpose, in the same way that LISA schools have. In 2014, if your main purpose for existing is to give a group of people a place to be strictly because of the color of their skin, you no longer need to exist.

I actually was born there. I went to Grambling Lab then La Tech. I guess Im a little sensitive to it because I have family and friends who attended. They seem to be quite successful. Just did not want this to turn into a shat on Grambling thread yet again. It's cool
