So we're losing 4 starters on the defense.

And all the returnees showed vast improvement as the season went on (even welter).

With our incoming class(which will be fantastic no matter how it ends) should we expect a 2010, 2011, or 2012 type defense next year? I think 2010 is more realistic because of our interior(which I think will end up being fine oh sweet valentine)

Offense will sort itself out. We have a great OC/DC duo and a fantastic head coach

The offense will not sort itself out. It will take a significant step backwards. The defense has to play very well which it very well could.

I don't want to get on Welter but I don't think he showed enough. A good game v Iowa doesn't mean jack

Obviously we should have some one better at mike, but its not like we didn't have karnell hatcher playing mike and still fielded a top defense in the country. And hatcher was pretty bad.

Welter did improve in the back half of the season. That does not rule out however, that God simply did not bless him with the physical attributes of a menacing strong Mike Inside LB.

no reason to think the defense won't be improved as far as the starting unit is concerned. Corners will have much needed experience, safety should be improved, again through experience. I personally don't see Loston as a big loss.

Hunter really improved as the year went on and should be a force this year. Ego had a decent year, but overall it was a sub-par year at DT. If reports on Herron are true, he will add much needed depth there.

Hard to say about the LB unit at this point but there is a lot to work with...Beckwith, Kwon, Debo, Garrett, etc. I'm not going to call the middle yet, if they're holding that spot for Garrett then I'd imagine Welter will start the year there. Louis is out of position, IMO.
