So my nephews 9th grade intro to geo teacher is showing old bear after there test for the contients they are studing. I say its a pretty good idea for the kids to get to see the actual places they have been studying after the test rather than just seeing pictures in the book. An bear can be fun to watch. Anyway my brother is pissed about it, what you think I should tell him? get over hisself an let the man do his job how he feels he should.

What's wrong with teacher's using what's available to get kids interested in their subject? Helps them learn and retain the material.

considering your grammar in the op, i'm thinking your opinion on teaching tactics doesn't really count...

1) I really hope you're typing on your phone
2) Yeah seems like a pretty cool way to show the terrain of places you just taught to your 9th graders. Why would he be pissed about that?

My 12 year old sister watches Man vs Wild religiously. We watch that and Survivorman a lot. She's been watching it since she was 9-10 actually.

I don't see a problem here. It's a cool show.

Man vs Wild is an entertainment show specifically about the guy. It would probably be more beneficial to watch some national geographic documentaries.

Maybe. But it's also probably better at keeping the attention of 9th graders.

Kids pay attention to Bear, because he's "cool." Nat Geo narrators generally aren't.

My kids are watching Planet Earth today.

We were studying Africa and the it's physical features. Why not show them a few scenes in the Jungle or desert?

Sounds good to me! Not to mention, after we watch one the kids wanna talk about weather patterns because they see it happening on film. They get excited to see places they have never heard of or seen in all the dated text books.
