Mike Huckabee and Obesity (2016 liability)

Serious question. A lot of people talked about Christie's weight being an issue if he ran/runs for president.
Does anyone think Huckabee's weight loss and antiobesity crusade followed by his journey back to fatness will be an issue should he decide to run?
Obviously no one is going to run adds hammering him for "fat hypocrisy." But opponents could subtly use it in an attempt to build the perception that he is the sort of politician who won't/can't stick to doing what he says and follow through.
TL;DR
Does the fact that Mike Huckabee crusaded against obesity only to get fat again make voters less likely to support him? (Independent of his many other faults as a candidate)

Really don't know what to think about this honestly. Fatness in my mind is a sign of personal irresponsibility but I don't think I would ever knock a political candidate because of it.
If a candidate showed support for the stupid BS "fat power" movement though...there goes any chance of them getting my vote.

I think the stupid shite that comes out of his mouth will be more of a deterrent for myself.

The fact that he thinks evolution is "just a theory" and that the earth is 10,000 years old is a much bigger issue than his weight.

I hope Huckabee wins the nomination. I hope Huckabee makes it deep into the primary process. He's a perfect illustration of how out of touch the GOP is with the rest of the world.

Yet the GOP nominates McCain, Bush, Dole, Romney, etc.
Mainstream Republocrats who straddle the line and aren't much, if any, different than the average Dem. politician.
There is little difference between the mainstream of the two parties no matter how hard you try to delude yourself.

I wouldnt say mainstream liberals are any more "in touch" than conservatives, it's just that their reasons for being out of touch are different.
Conservatives want so badly to legislate morality than they largely ignore the issues that actually matter, and liberals are such idealistic bleeding hearts that they forget that money is finite. Neither have any real solutions and both are carrying our country further and further from where we need to be.

I agree whole heartedly. I've said many times on this board that Obama isn't a liberal or a progressive. I wish we had a progressive president. Frankly his policies are almost indistinguishable from Bush's except on a handful of relatively inconsequential social issues.
I would have loved to vote Green in 2012.

Until we have a true fiscal conservative in office, backed by a fiscally conservative congress, nothing will change. We'll just keep bitching about gay marriage, spending money we dont have and worrying more about Christie's weight and Miley Cyrus' arse than the fact that we're drowing in debt and quickly becoming China's bitch.

In the name of "social justice," yes. They also believe public education through college should be free, etc.
Unicorns may not be mythical, I think there's a few in our midst. It's just a bunch of far left Democrats who thought "green party" sounded all European..

Why didn't you? Jill Stein got 6,981 votes in Louisiana. If you are not in Louisiana, and she was not on the ballot, why didn't you write her in?

Saw Huckabee from the side last weekend. I think he's definitely more rotund than Christie now. And 7 years older. He could potentially be looking at a serious health situation if he doesn't make any adjustments.

IDK, some people just have great genes. I have an aunt who has been over 250 for most of her adult life. She turns 65 next week and has no blood pressure or blood sugar issues and has better cholesterol than me (an active runner and weight lifter). She has never taken any meds and has never seen the inside of a gym.
Ive also got a 27 year old friend who is 5'11", 170, is around 8% body fat and runs two full marathons a year. He just got put on a statin for cholesterol around 250.
Some people just get lucky.

Being overweight and a murder never seemed to stop Ted Kennedy.

That brain tumor sure did, though.
Okay, that was mean.
