Inflation

That is one word

Most middle class have a lot of debt and inflation helps with debt over the long haul.

It doesn't help the middle class.

Government either helps the lower classes for their votes or the upper classes for their donations. Little, if anything is done to help those in the middle. The role of the people in the middle is to pay for the advancement of those above and below them.

not sure if this is correct or just an educated projection. Yeah I can see where it could help some, but they would have to be those that survive the short term devastation caused by inflation, and that would be a minority of the middle class, namely the upper middle class.

Supposedly it goes like this:

Increase in MW give Mary 500 bucks a year more to spend.

Mary has a thing about shoes, so she buys 500 bucks worth of shoes at Pay Less.

The jump in sales motivates the owner of Pay Less to hire an extra worker.

Thus, a middle class job is created.

I love how proven economics is just thrown aside.

if the government stayed the frick out of business wages would be higher and there would be more jobs.

The lags we would experience would be short lived.

Somewhere along the line we forgot that when every individual satisfies his own needs and goals, the collective benefits.

its pretty obvious that helping the middle class has never been an Obama objective, I don't think the OP was implying this either.

Minimum wage only helps out union bosses and governments and only for a short period of time. Because after prices adjust (inflate) they will be begging for more.

So what's the point of asking a question that doesn't have anything to do with the objective? It seems arbitrary and irrelevant.

He says it is.

From last year:

?
quote:

A stronger middle class is a key to a stronger economy:
A range of economic studies show that modestly raising the minimum wage increases earnings and reduces poverty without jeopardizing employment. In fact, leading economists like Lawrence Katz, Richard Freeman, and Laura Tyson and businesses like Costco, Wal-Mart, and Stride Rite have supported past increases to the minimum wage, in part because increasing worker productivity and purchasing power for consumers will also help the overall economy
