Twister - New Appreciation

For how bad this movie sucked. Wife was watching it last night, and god, was it terrible. I particularly liked how dumb bitch's solution was to "stop" tornadoes and save people by feeding it 8,000 flying razor blades that cut the shite out of people as they were making them in non-tornado conditions.
I just wish when it passed over them at the end, the "dorothies" would have cut them into ground meat...that would have been a suitable ending.

on a scale of 1-10 with 1 being as shitty as Bill Paxton gets and a 10 being as good as Bill Paxton gets, I give him about a 9. (Which is about a 5 on any other scale).

Twister is a great popcorn flick. You are terrible at pretty much everything, or so I'm guessing. I'm not sure who you are.

Popcorn Movie
1. a summer action flick, not monumental, a good waste of time
2. A movie is garanteed to be, "eh". One that is sure not to win any awards. One only goes to see it as a excuse to eat popcorn and other junk food with friends. Sometimes with the intention of insulting it afterword.

sorry your idea of a god movie is whether it allows you to waste time sitting on your arse eating and offers no substance.

Don't be sorry. I like being entertained by movies.

My wife and I like it a lot. Various channels seem to replay it often so we have watched it several times. If you nitpick every movie you will never be able to just sit back relax and enjoy it for what it is: a context created within itself.

I remember going to see it with Mrs. LuckySo-n-So #1 at the theater. That movie did for CGI tornadoes what Jurassic Park did for CGI dinosaurs. As we were driving home (late at night) after seeing it, I my eyes kept seeing killer tornadoes around every bend in the road. It was very eerie.
While it is certainly not The Godfather or Raiders of the Lost Ark, it was well worth the $20 I spent on tickets and popcorn.

Yeah, its a good popcorn flick... Its been coming on a lot lately and if there is nothing else on and I don't have anything to watch on the dvr, I will turn it on while Im surfing the net.

Never considered the razor-blade issue.
However, that is just a subset of the larger problem of how Paxton and Hunt either: 1) were indestructible; or, 2) had personal force-fields. This was especially apparent at the end of the movie.

I like Twister for what it is. Not every movie has to be the Godfather.

All I remember is Jami Gertz.
Although I wasn't a fan of her hair in this.

not true...don't you remember the part where the weight of the 27" TV, temporarily suspended only by the tensile strength of coax cable, pulls down a wall and nearly crushes them to death?
And it's totally plausible that a tornado might throw a tanker truck filled with fuel 500' yet not have the force necessary to impart any momentum on a Dodge pickup...maybe it had a Hemi.
Finally, while unlikely, I suppose it may be that every splinter of every tree, fence and building, along with the contents of each (some of which they illustrated were quite sharp and pointy) may have simply whizzed around them. Haven't you ever been walking in the rain and by some force of nature emerged completely dry as if each rain drop just missed?
The biggest logical flaw in the movie, though, was how they were not shot in the face by a farmer or arrested for driving multiple trucks through corn fields just for the frick of it.

I enjoy the "ride" at Universal more than the movie

I agree with the op. This movie was bad. "Bill Paxton chases tornadoes the old fashioned way, like your grandpa did. But this new guy, well he's just in it for money" what a joke
