iPad Air - Samsung Tab 2 - Surface Pro

Which one should I get? For the samsung and surface, I mean the latest and greatest version. Don't know if the ones I listed are the most current.
I have $400 to spend, but if one is more money, but is a better product, then I don't mind waiting a few extra months until I have the extra cash I need.
Looking for something to do the normal pad stuff. Game, interwebz, etc. I'd like to use it for work also. Take notes, look at spreadsheets and word docs, etc.
I have an iPhone, but am thinking of switching to samsung once the new galaxy comes out. I've been told to get whatever matches my phone, so that's why I mentioned it.
TIA
ETA: meant to post on OT

Stay away from an iPad and any tablet running Windows RT. Not enough apps for RT and iPad is a lot more for way less features than you get with Android. Can you even add flash memory to iPads yet? Only get a Windows tablet if it is running a true copy of Windows 8.1 but those start at like $600+ I think.
Android really is still the best tablet option on the market (especially for the money) IMO and Samsung makes a great product.

Thanks stout
I'm looking at the Tab 2 10.1 screen or whatever it is. I think that's the latest samsung has out?

I'm actually about to buy a tablet myself.
Going with the iPad Air even though I'm an Android guy. They're $499 but worth it.
But I just want it for browsing and some apps as well as video watching mainly all at the beach tethering LTE from my phone.
Nah that's BS, as I said I'm an Android guy but their tablets still don't compare to the iPad. I thought about getting the new Nexus 7 which would be my Android choice but still decided not to.
Can't really comment much on the Surface Pro but didn't they get a pretty bad reception and now hte Pro 2's are actually good?
The new Samsung tabs were announced at CES a few weeks ago.

I would wait it out a little longer if you could. The new stuff should start hitting the market around March I think.
I have a Samsung Note 8.0 and am pretty happy with it.

The new Samsung tablets announced at CES
See which one you prefer, no pricing or release yet but will be pretty soon.

The Tab 2 10.1 is almost two years old.

shite idk, I think tablets are stupid and I hadn't my iPad2 when purchased years ago. It was always ackward to hold and never found a reason to use it.
However which I purchased the newNexus 7 I feel in love with the form factor and carried it in my work bag where ever I would go.
Maybe look into the 7" tablets and an iPad mini before you purchase the weird sized iPad.

I wish fricking Google would reveal the new Nexus 10 already, then I might actually not get the iPad Air.
I've got the Nexus 5 phone but want a 10" tablet and there is shite on the market right now for Android until the GalaxyTab Pro hits here in a month or two.

I think a 10" tablet is too big. Might as well pack around a netbook or laptop.

What's the difference between the note and tab? Look the same to me.

I'm going to be mainly watching WatchESPN and NHL GameCenter, etc on it so I want the bigger screen to watch them on. I've played with an iPad Air and it's really light and portable, more so than I expected even with the "Air" name.

That's the other thing I want it for. Hell, now it's going to be a 12" screen

I'd consider the NotePro 12.2" but it depends on the pricing. I think it may be $600+.

I got a steal on my Note 8.0. I added it to my AT&T data plan for $10 per month and got the tablet for $100. I was going to add it anyway as I use mine for work so I was lucky to catch it on sale at AT&T that day.

Yeah that's a damn steal.
I notice on Sammy's site that the 10.1 is running Android 4.3 yet at CES they said they were all shipping with 4.4 which I've gotten used to and love on my phone.
Bit disappointing but I'd root it immediately anyways.
The 12.2 is up for sale in the UK right now but no the US and it's E649 which is way too much for a tablet so forget that. Too big anyways.
