Yes as in IRL dollars. It was $116K worth of ships lost last update I saw 12 hours ago. I am sure it's way more than that now as more people joined the battle.

Screw that shite. If I had one of the bigger ships I would be the biggest pussy in the EVE galaxy.

What the ships cost in real life

A huge MMORP in a space setting.

The game has it's own economy

People take video games too damn seriously.

Go for a hike or a swim. $100k on video games? No thanks. I'd rather buy another house

It's not like 1 person lost all $100K and you can acquire the ships by just playing the game and not exchanging any money though they do hold a real world value.

I tried to get into the FPS console version of EVE but it was just too dense and I often felt like the battles were completely random with no real purpose.

Still crazy though.

Time = Money that's all.

Some guy sold a ship in the game for something like $20,000 or something close a couple of years ago.

This is the same game where a trap was set a few months back to destroy one guys ship which was deemed most expensive.

lets remember thats the game that hired its own in house economist to study the game economy for inefficiencies and unbalances. they take that shite very very real.

Personal experience has shown me that time spent greatly outweighs money spent.

If I were that guy and had earned the ship by pure time spent, you're looking at full blown ape shite reaction.

I used to play a txt based game when I was a teen and kids would suicide attack me with all their tiny fake accounts they made, after weeks of building my account. Never raged so hard at anything.

As someone who used to play this game, let me clarify that no one actually sells these ships for real money and I'm 99% sure all the Titans (the biggest ship in the game) that got blown up were made by the Alliances in the battle. These alliances are comprised of thousands of people working together to put together fleets of these things. The dollar amount listed wasn't actually lost in this fight, but it is nice to give a sense of scale to the amount of in game currency that got blown up.

Also, keep in mind most of the people piloting these things were probably just excited to get to use them in a real fight - I'm sure several of the titans destroyed were built years ago and once your pilot is in one of these ships, they don't pilot another ship until the Titan is dead.
