Gotta beat the Alabama's and the Ole Miss's of the world if you wanna pull guys like this. We don't have a godfather on the staff to help pull this monster

He means we have a talented player in the 2015 class that can help get Newman here

What? I think LSU can trump those historic basketball powers on its own merit.

It's sad but I bet half these kids don't know who pistol Pete Maravich is or that Shaq went to LSU

Gotta win here and now

I'm sure they don't, but I'd be much more worried about programs like Kentucky, UNC, UCLA, Louisville, Duke, as opposed to Bama or Ole Miss

These guys need to be more involved. LINK

quote:

8. Shaquille O'Neal, LSU Key Statistics: 13.9 ppg, 12.0 rpg, 3.6 bpg, 57.3 percent FG percentage Though he shared the spotlight in Baton Rouge with Chris Jackson and Stanley Roberts, there was never a question of who the most talented player on LSU's squad was in 1989-90. Though he hadn't picked up the footwork that made him unstoppable in his prime, he used his brute strength to dominate. O'Neal was the first freshman in NCAA history to rack up two triple-doubles, and he remains one of only two first-year players to perform that feat.

quote:

1. Chris Jackson, LSU Key Statistics: 30.2 ppg, 4.1 apg, 49 percent FG percentage Not since Pete Maravich had the SEC seen a scorer as lethal as Jackson, and never has there been a better scorer as a freshman. The Gulfport, Miss., native was so quick that he rarely needed a move more flashy than a dribble between his legs, which would be followed either by a quick dart into the lane or an unstoppable jump shot. Along with earning first-team All-SEC and first-team All-American honors in 1989, Jackson became the first freshman named SEC Player of the Year. He holds the NCAA record for points per game by a freshman, a mark unlikely to be broken any time soon.

We can't compete with those programs right now, which is my point. We have to elevate ourselves above the teams like Alabama and Ole Miss to pull the guys like Newman without some kind of major connection

And Rhode Island. That one STILL sticks out like a sore thumb.

Doubtful. LSU has only 2 seniors on this years team, but 4 guys signed for next year. Obviously that means 2 underclassmen won't be on next year's team. It has long been thought that this is JOBIII's last year, and with his performance tonight against a team loaded with 1st round picks, Mickey might be playing his way into the first round

I know it's not definitive, but I just looked through about eight mock drafts and only one had Martin and Mickey listed in the back end of the second round. None had JOB III.

If LSU doesn't make the tourney, I don't see their stock rising a lot unless they beat and play great against Kentucky and Florida.

I still don't think that gets them a first round spot in what is considered a loaded draft class.
