Is anyone as amped as me about HBOs

Haven't watched the pilot yet. But, I'm willing to give it a look.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say it will be "critically acclaimed" in the same way things like Girls and Avatar were. Shitty stories but it strikes the philosophical chord that Hollywood wants to hit.

Avatar made tons of money because of the CGI, the story itself was about as predictable as a Kige video. The story though (corporations are evil and natives living a more granola lifestyle are pure Good) is one the rabid Leftists in Hollywood love so they threw all sorts of awards at it.

Girls has shite stories and even shittier ratings, but it keeps getting all sorts of acclaim because the star/creator/producer/ego-maniac is biiiiiiiiiiiiig into the Gay Rights issue. Hell, last season's finale (season 2) drew only 637,000 viewers yet HBO renewed it for a FOURTH season.

I hope I will be wrong about Looking, but the smart money says it will be just another social agenda push with little real story.
