I was scouting for ducks in a small beaver pond and saw a huge gobbler. I have never turkey hunted but after seeing him I want to give it a try. I know they will move around but how likely is it that he will stick around the same area I saw him come turkey season. I've been seeing 7 hens in my food plot during deer season which is 400yds from where I saw him.

Corn will keep them there. Keep it flowing til a couple weeks or days before the season. Then hunt near there but far enough away from the corn to be legal.

cracked corn

is harder for Whoop-Head Dolly's man to detect, but is still kinda illegal in several states.

Roost-em and call a little when they fly down. And hunt a few hundred yards from the corn.

If you find the roost that's where he'll be. I've heard that they like to roost over water so if it was early and seeing as how you were duck hunting you probably weren't far from the roost.

Its a lot like deer hunting. If the hens are there and he's the dominant gobbler he'll be there.

The hens are raising their poults right now, as it gets closer to breeding season they will be looking for places to nest. If there is good nesting habitat close by they'll stay in the area, if not they'll move.
