Where to live? 2 gradeschool children. We are a little apprehensive about Germantown or Collierville because of the Memphis school system unknowns. Would Olive Branch be a good alternative? Thanks to all

Collierville High is very good. Houston High School is by far the best public school in the entire Memphis area. Germantown High is so-so.
I used to live in that area when I was younger.

The public school system in the east memphis area is definitely better than the city itself. Collierville has the best reputation as far as public schools go, Houston and Germantown have good reps as well.

As far as private schools go, I have relatives at St. Georges and have graduated. The connections for college and the future from here are unbelievable but is rather costly

The memphis suburbs are among the most depressing regions known to man

Damn. I'd rather stay in MS than move to Memphis.

Collierville will have it's own school system, as will Germantown. Germantown will have one high school, rather than the current two, and it will actually be Houston High School. The current Germantown elementary, middle and high schools will actually be in the Shelby county school system, but all other elementary and middle schools in Germantown will be part of the new Germantown school system. Confused yet? Don't go to Mississippi. Also, good things are happening in Arlington/Eads, and they too will have their own school system.

Also, if you have to live in Memphis, make sure you stay east of 240, north of Poplar and south of Walnut Grove. Or get all fancy and move to Chickasaw Gardens. Or move in town somewhere near 2nd Presbyterian Church. Just make sure you stay Between Polar and Walnut Grove east of Highland. All other area are, well, certain death.
Just my two cents.

How are they going to fit everyone in at Houston? And yes, Arlington is quickly growing.

Because a bunch of kids at Houston are Collierville residents.

Collierville has plans to build a new high school at some point in the near future.

I live in Collierville Reserve. You'll either really like it here or you'll hate it. Your outlook will determine which.

ETA: And most of these that put it down have never spent much/any time in Memphis.

Also, stay the hell away from the Cordova area. Getting dangerous there since it was annexed.

I thought they were working out some sort of agreement to let them stay.

Germantown really got shafted, but they probably should have seen it coming.
