The rules currently on the table are backed by Mayor Mitch Landrieu and enjoy wide support among council members. They would forbid:

Throwbacks (tossing throws back to the floats), subject to a fine of $250.

Chaining ladders together.

Placing ladders closer than 6 feet to the curb.

Roping off private areas.

Selling "snap pops" and stink bombs.

Riding the exterior of a vehicle in a parade.

The placing of private portable toilets in the public right of way, including neutral grounds.

The placing of tents, grills and other personal items in the public right of way.

I'll update, when a vote has been taken.

Heady, don't throw beads at the floats.

Meanwhile, floats can't toss/hand spears anymore...at least we can't.

People get nuts with the roping off shite. Especially down St. Charles and around Lee Circle.

I'm shocked there isn't currently a law against humming things back at the float riders. What a dick move.

They can pry my snap pops out of my cold dead hands though.

I have no problem with any of this. I ride and it sucks when you have to keep an eye out for some idiot taking a potshot at you with a hand full of beads or an empty bottle. One year some guy threw an empty beer bottle so hard that it stuck in the side of the float. Could have really hurt somebody.

I think I misunderstood then. If people are roping off their *own* private property, then yeah, this isn't reasonable at all.

Agree with almost everything.

Ladder Nazis - annoying and entitled
Snap Pops - annoying kids who parents have no control over
Throwbacks - White Trash
