Ways to thwart off a cold

I'm not in any pain/drowsiness but I have become a little sneezy, stopped up, and have a slight cough/tickle in my throat.
Anything I should focus on to keep this from getting bad? I know time is of the essence!
Someone's recommending this:

Airborne, Emergen-C, or any 1,000 mg dose of Vitamin C will work.

Too late for all that. That trains already up to speed.

There is literally no cure for the common cold. Take allergy medicine (Zyrtec) and real sudafed, overload on Vitamin C, and take an OTC cold med such as Alka Seltzer to ease the symptoms.
You're welcome.

Just went through this. Avoid fried foods and cheese (creates more mucus) and focus on chicken, turkey, fish, fruits, and vegetables. Drink a shitload of water and some hot tea and sleep for an hour or two more than you usually would.

Just take everything you can buy/find/steal; my motto is "something is bound to work".

Take something to ease the symptoms and wait a few days. The common cold is a seven-day virus with the worst symptoms coming on days 3-5.
Once you start to experience serious symptoms, it's usually too late to prevent a cold by taking vitamin C. Have to take it early and a lot of it for it to have an affect, so I've been told.
That being said, the clear answer here is hookers and blow

Yep, Airborne is supposed to be taken at the very first sign of a cold, or when everyone around you has a cold. If you already have all the symptoms, it's too late for that.
Best thing you can do is drink and sleep more and hope it goes quickly.

Serious response:
I was always told that Airborne was best used to help boost your immune system prior to the full onset of a cold. After the fact, as someone else mentioned, I don't believe it is thought to be that effective. Addressing the symptoms, as yet another poster mentioned, is probably your best bet. Just be sure to have lots of water handy, yet again already mentioned, because decongestants have a tendency to dry you out.
OT response:
Good Lord! All that for a cold... Here is some advice:

So far I'm going with some mixed berry Ricola and some strawberry Airborne.

Last time I thought I was catching a cold, I started taking Sudafed which dried things up and I think it may have gotten too dry for the virus to multiply. Or, maybe it wasn't even a cold. Dunno.
