Someone just sent me a note saying they had seen a construction proposal for a location in Metairie.

A chain bar that belongs in Metairie.

I went Saturday to the one in Savannah.

I enjoy hundreds of beers on tap in a renovated downtown building with live music.

But I guess it sucks because it is a chain.

Well it's an upgrade from happy hour at Chili's.

Who cares if it's a chain? Other than Avenue Pub is there a good beer bar in the NOLA metro area?

There's one in Katy, a suburb of Houston, and they're opening one in Sugarland. It's much better than anything they have in the area(though Sugarland has a Flying Saucer and I would put it on that level), but I wouldn't make a trip out there to drink when there are better options available in town.

Never set foot in one of these franchises but I'll bet you it's got a manufactured atmosphere with shitty over priced foods. I'd rather deal with a local business b/c they are the ones that drive my business.

Bartender at Big Ben Tavern yesterday told me that a World of Beer was opening up soon right down the road from them. Never heard of the place before. Sounds interesting.

I get that. However, If I can drive two minutes, rather than 15 to uptown, then I'm all for them coming to town. I don't really care about their food. Hopefully they can deliver an extensive beer selection.

We went to one in Orlando several years ago and had a really good time.

Most WoB that I know of have pretty good selections. But then again this is Louisiana. I would only assume since we are getting more craft distribution coming in that the selection should be pretty good.

There just aren't that many options for beer bars in the area

Other than Ave Pub what is there?

I live not far from the one in Katy, and actually took my father in law Friday afternoon. They generally have a pretty good selection on tap, and a number of bottles to choose from. Can be a little pricey. As said, it is a good option in Katy, but in Houston there are better options.

Still limited but many places are increasing the number of craft beer taps. New places like NOLA's tap room and the new Courtyard place are good additions.

Why bother being this bitter and give your opinion on something that you, very obviously, don't even have the slightest clue as to what you are talking about?
