T. Valentine discussion

Anyone else think TV. could have an immediate impact next year if we land him? At 340 lbs he will demand a double team which will help the rest of the line along with the LB's.
I had no clue he was as highly rated as he is, #3 DT on 247 and #34 overall composite. I thought I had seen #10 or so DT at one point, must have been someone else.
Hope we can add this kid to an already stacked class!

I don't think he will have an "immediate" impact, but I think he would be the first one to contribute next year if I had to pick out of any of the DT recruits.

Agreed, I could see him in the rotation early for sure. Imagine being an opposing O lineman, once you think the guy you're blocking is whipped a 340 pounder lines up in front of you.

To throw in some humor, on the Miami 247 board they linked the Jimmy Smith article with the Valentine info with LSU likely leading still.
A post from a MIAMI poster, the same MIAMI who should have received the death penalty had the NCAA not completely botched the investigation, said LSU was the dirtiest program in the NCAA. Lol

They have some dumb posters on their 247 site. They were all claiming UF paid for Powell when he flipped last week from Miami, a 3* prospect on 247.
In regards to Valentine, all the upside is there. He just needs to get better at not taking plays off. He has a bad tendency to get lazy during games. With that being said, this is not just a TV problem, but a problem amongst most elite DT's. It is a pretty hard position to evaluate because of it, then they go to these camps and don't wear pads, etc. I would say a RS would be best for him, but not sure of LSU's DT situation.

Agreed. His film shows some plays off. LSU wants to rotate DTs as much as possible so we don't rely on ours to play every down.
His great Army AA week tells of his ceiling.
Hopefully he wouldn't have to play as a TF but he will have a realistic chance to do so if he shows up ready to work

Miami people make me laugh. If Lsu was so dirty, we would have kept all the la recruits home and wouldn't need oos people. La. Recruits need to open their eyes and see why all these oos guys want to come here.

yeah. Him and Valentine in the middle. Scary! Two barns next to each other.

Valentine said he recently received an offer to play at Texas “and they came at me strong,” but had plenty to boast about regarding LSU.
Valentine said he likes the way defensive backs coach Corey Raymond “talks to my mom, [and] they way he talks to me.” He also said he has “good communication” with head coach Les Miles, and received a visit from defensive line coach Brick Haley this week as well.
