Would you support MLK day being renamed to Civil Rights Day?

I was thinking about this tonight. Having it named MLK day gives a lot of credit to Martin Luther King; however, there were a lot of people that played very important roles in the Civil Rights movement. The Little Rock Nine, Ruby Bridges, and Rosa Parks all deserve a little more credit in my humble opinion.

I think it's a good idea, but it would never happen for a couple of reasons:
1. It would give morons around the country the idea that we are somehow taking something away from Dr. kings legacy
And
2. Even though civil rights day would be appropriate, it's really just a holiday for African Americans
Just my $.02

He was the figurehead, and he paid the ultimate price for his beliefs. He can have the day, everyone knows that it encompasses more than just one man.

This is a solid reason. Lots of people can SAY they would die for something, but few actually do it. MLK certainly never intended to die for his cause, but the fact that he did speaks volumes.

I'm not debating whether you think it's a valid holiday or not.

Oh I completely agree.
I know 7th Ward drives some people nuts on here, but from all my interactions with him, he's a cool guy. He had no issues losing a kill streak to plant/defuse a bomb.
