So a good friend of mine, charter captain mind you, is leaving his rig down in Delacroix Saturday night for me to use on Sunday. Nothing wrong with mine but he's just doing it because. Man I feel like I'm doing him bad because that's his livelihood and he trusts me with it.
Do you ever let a friend take your rig out??

When I had one I used to let my friends use it all the time.

Of course it wasn't a bazillion dollar bay boat.

It all depends who it is. I have some very good friends who I wouldn't even consider lending a boat to and others who I wouldn't have a problem with coming grab it whenever they wanted.

I hate borrowing friends boats because I have terrible luck with boats and I'd hate for it to break on me.

That bring said, I don't mind ppl borrowing mine.

Depends on the friend. Being he's charter and knows you well enough to know if anything happens it's more of a freak accident than operator error

It all depends.

It depends on the the type of friend it is, his financial stability to pay for any damages that could occur, your financial stability to overlook any damages that could occur, and if the fish were biting or not.

Damn good question. Only a couple I let use it. Most of my friends absolutely not. My thing is I borrow something and it breaks while I am using it, I feel obligated to fix it. For that reason I rarely borrow anything like a boat, 4 wheeler, etc...

My pops had a Grady White and a Sea Ray 28' and wouldn't let me take either out. I love him to death but he was a dick.

I've never borrowed anyone else's boat. My brother in law borrows mine every once in a while and always drops something critical overboard or breaks something. After he borrowed it one time last summer, he waited a week and then asked me if I had welded the crack in the trailer. Must have driven off-road. He also doesn't know how to properly clean a boat. But he is my bro in law, so I tolerate it.

That said, if I ever used someone else's boat, it'd likely be returned in better shape than it was before.

I've borrowed boats over the years and let friends borrow my boat. I have had several friends want me to use their boats who are guides in Venice. I have always refused them as if something happens their livelihood is at stake.

Hos boat will be topped off and deck scrubbed. Being in the business he's in he don't have a lot of time to do that so I'm excited for him that it will be done.

He knows I got it if something happens. It will be returned in better shape than what he left me with.

Most folks borrow the boat because it is convenient for them, regardless of anything else.

I knew you were a solid guy the first time I met you.
