In your opinion, what things need to happen this offseason for the Saints to go to the superbowl next year?

This is mine:
I honestly think that we were the 2nd best team in the NFL behind seattle this year, (maby Denver is a little better as well) and only a few pieces away from being a Superbowl Winner in 2014/15. I think that if we can restructure Brees to sign Jimmy, get a center and some depth at OLine in rounds 3+ Or in FA, and get a CB/WR in rounds 1 and 2 that dont turn out to be a bust, get someone to return kicks, and maby get a little bit of more depth at various defense positions with the rest of our picks then we can have the number 1 offense and defense next year. No way that we dont go to the Superbowl with the number 1 O and D if we can get Home Field Advantage. I am very excited about next year!

This happened to the Chargers, but they had TERRIBLE Special Teams. Our Special Teams is not terrible like theirs is, and i just dont see a dominant Saints loosing AT HOME ever

Healthy defensive backfield, healthy Jimmy Graham, one upgrade at WR, upgrade at C or RT. That would do it. We could also use an upgrade at LB, but I think we can live with what we have.

We need an attacking ballhawking D. Doesn't have to be '09. Can you imagine if we had gotten one defensive or special teams touchdown in one, just one of the games we lost (sans first @ SEA)

In my honest opinion, I don't think we need to sign too many players except maybe a solid center. The biggest thing for us is to stay healthy and we should be legitimate contenders. Despite everyone complaining about our receivers not getting separation, we still had one of the best offenses in the league. We need to stay healthy on both sides of the ball, and we can get there just how we are.

Before I get into the whole Draft/Free agent part of this, I'll cover the current roster first.

First off, Sean Payton has to absolutely commit to a running game. I'm not asking him to hand off 25-30x a game, but stop getting cute on 3rd and short or 4th down situations. Quit the reverses and end arounds, do what works. Also, quit running screens ON EVERY GODDAMN DRIVE, THE WHOLE LEAGUE KNOWS THEY'RE COMING.

As for the defense, they were fantastic. I would love to see a couple more turnovers but I'm not going to hate on them.

On offense, Drew has to stop forcing the damn ball to Graham. Colston proved to still be a valuable asset and Stills was fantastic. Next season will be Ingram's show, so let's hope he shows up.

As for the off-season, we need to add key pieces around the roster. The first being CB; Corey White was great in a nickle role but got exposed on the outside. We need someone to play opposite Keenan Lewis and then some depth. Next up, we need a road grading C because De La Puente is not the answer. After that, I'd like a true run blocking TE to stay in and chip pass rushers.

Similar defensive performance. Brees to stop shitting the bed on the road. A true #1 wide receiver. Better production from the running backs (I still say Ingram should get 70% of the carries). Payton to go back and watch film from 2009-2011 and figure out what the frick he was doing wrong in 2013.

Also home field advantage.

1. Stay healthy on defnense, and add a little depth
2. A more consistent and reliable running game. People seem to forget how good the run game was when we won the SB
3. Major upgrades at WR

Once again:

Brees led the Saints to the lead AT the Pats for the win ON THE ROAD the def gave up the game winning drive .

13-3 with a winning record on the road.

Bye week and home playoff game.

Resign Strief in FA, cut Sproles, Thomas, Smith, Moore, restructure Harper
Tag or sign Graham
Draft a WR in the first, CB in the 2nd, C in the 3rd and grab De'Anthony somewhere after that

Super Bowl

We need Cory White and Ingram to continue to get better, and grab an experienced CB from the FA market.

In the draft, we first and foremost need a big WR (if we don't go to FA with this position) and someone to replace sproles.

@ 27 I like Kelvin Benjamin (would raher Sammy Watkins or Mike Evans) and in later rounds it'd be great to grab De'Anthony Thomas. Hopefully one of these two players will become a playmaker for the offense. I'd also like to see us grab a Center to compete with DLP, but truthfully, there just aren't that many good Centers out this year. OLB, ILB, and DT need depth. I like Akiem Hicks and Cam Jordan on the ends.

Brees also couldn't get a first down at the end of the game to secure a win.

2. A #2 CB
3. C
4. Someone on the D that can create turnovers

Upgrade Oline. More consistent special team play. Improve turnover differential. Stay healthy.

12-6 and in the final 8 is legit

As far as need, #1 fix ...

Brees sacks by yr since '06-

18, 16, 13, 20, 25, 24, 26, 37

Center needs an upgrade. Several options, but right tackle needs someone penciled in. Evans and Grubbs are stepping up to the big money years at ages 31 & 30. Many might not realize they are getting more combined than Brees this year- over $20mil. They don't get cheaper and are not cuttable until 2016.

We need a ballhawk and better special teams. Weren't the Saints the only team without a TD scored by special teams or the defense?

That is bad.
