I know some of you have done it, so help me out a bit.

What will I need?

I'm thinking:

Netflix
Hulu +
Amazon Prime
Google Chromecast

and a Mohu antenna

Anything else? Any other antenna recs?

Lots of ISPs have bandwidth caps now.

I'm interested in what you pay now, versus what you will pay after dropping their service to only internet and then adding in these monthly subscription services. I "cut the cord" for about two years, and have just added TV service back because I felt like online was not what it used to be.

Interesting, before I got my local channels on DirecTV I had a normal indoor antenna and got the HD channels fine, I was told there really was no such thing as an "HD antenna"

my Mohu Leaf will be here in two days... my contract with DISH just ended this month. I will be cancelling very soon.

I have a Roku box + Netflix + Hulu+ and Amazon Prime (although that's more for ordering shite, not watching tv).

Excited to see how it's going to go and to be saving an extra $65 a month or so.

I currently pay $50/month for Comcast internet and $130/month for DTV. We rarely watch TV anymore. It's usually just an hour at night and that is usually a show or movie from streaming.

If I added the TV option to Comcast it would be $170/month.

All 3 streaming services together are $23/month.

This is why I asked..I pay roughly $10 more and don't have to wait for the shows to become available online. I cancelled Netflix, Amazon Prime will expire in a few months and I kept the Hulu Plus..

You pay $90/month for TV and internet? Is that a new customer deal?

what comes with the basic channels?

I remember having basic cable when I was in college and we only got like 30 channels, and it was just the basic networks, ESPN, and a bunch of crap channels

Basic networks..Saves you from the antenna...I really only have it so that I could add the few other channels I wanted

I would go with an Apple TV or Roku over the Chromecast as a main TV option, with a jailbroken Apple TV being the best.
The Chromecast is good for a bedroom TV, IMO.

Why do you say this?

My TV already has all the apps, so I just need something to stream from my computer or iPad.

Then that might be best for you.
I'm just saying the Apple TV and Roku have a lot more entertainment options, but if that's all you need then go for it.
