My friend told me today that he read a rumor on twitter that the pels are discussing a trade to send Eric Gordon to Denver for Javale McGee.

I would like that trade a lot I think Gordon is a cancer, and having McGee and AD around the rim can be sick.

The nuggets GM use to be an assistant GM in New Orleans. Am I correct?

Well yea, Tim Connelly was assistant GM under Demps until 2010.
However, McGee is not what we want. His contract ranks right up there with Gordon's among NBA worst. Would be difficult to flip him, and he couldn't give us what we need short-term..

So please noooo

McGee makes about 11 million a year. Do we have any trade exceptions or do we need to add some filler (possibly Randy Foye at 3 mil a year)?

McGee: 11M exp. '16
Hickson: 5.3M exp. '16
Mosgov: 4.7M exp. '16
Chandler: 6.0M exp. '16
Galinari: 10.5M exp. '16
Lawson: 12M exp. '17
Foye: 3M Club option '15
Hamilton: 1.15M Club option '14

I would honestly take on any of these contracts before McGee's. I certainly see a NO/DEN 3-teamer in the works though.

That's when he started, he was Demps' assistant until this past off season. If Demps can't get anything good or even an expiring for Gordon, he may be down to a bad contract swap. Hopefully it works out as well as Juju/Beli, Brackins/Smith, Pondexter/Vasquez did.

FWIW George Karl got McGee playing some of the best ball of his career last season. It was a reduced 18 MPG role but he was very efficient with a PER of 20.7. He's not doing well at all under Brian Shaw, he's down to 15 MPG and a PER of 10.7

If any kind of trade goes down with Denver, it better involve Wilson Chandler coming to New Orleans and Eric Gordon going anywhere but here.
McGee is not 10 times better than Ajinca, like his salary dictates. I'd rather Ajinca than McGee straight up, and he's pretty much free.

There is another possibility if there is any truth to this rumor. Demps and Connely both have bad contracts they want to move, maybe they have some prospects for deals with other teams that are trying to low ball them so they use each other to bluff those teams. Although this rumor is from some undisclosed 3rd hand tweet so it's probably nothing.

Still, McGee for Gordon is probably the floor of a Gordon deal. If that's all that's available do you take it, the better fit and the $4 million per year savings? If you can't find a better deal this year, would McGee be easier to unload in a year than Gordon? Gordon does have a bigger salary and the injury issues, but he also has the potential to opt out a year early.
