We had a chance to chat with LSU commit John Battle on our radio network today. I know he isn't the highest-rated of your current commits, but he is an extremely impressive young man who will most definitely succeed in life. You guys should be very proud.

Thanks

This year's class is loaded with high-character guys. We are very proud and can't wait to see them on the field.

I had a chance to speak with him before the aTm game. He's a very good guy and was truly a pleasure talking to. The kid has his head on straight.

frick the services. This kid is an absolute stud with high character. It's a real shame he doesn't get the same pub as the fricking prima donnas that made this recruiting year a circus.

He's actually my favorite commit. I know LF and CG are getting all the love and EP for his LSU philanthropy, but I love Battle's footage. That closing speed reminds me of LaRon with long arms like Reids.

And while LSU undeniably has a rich tradition of placing defensive backs in the National Football League, Battle’s decision to enroll at Baton Rouge was not motivated by athletic factors as much as it was to further his education and enjoy the overall campus environment.

“Just when I visited campus, I just fell in love with the football facility and just the school itself,” Battle continued. “I want to major in broadcasting and communications and hopefully I can get in the radio business someday. Just the school itself got my attention.”

Battle’s ability to think long-term is a breath of fresh air in a modern climate where the overall development of young men seems to be a secondary priority.

This kid will probably be on the field from day 1 on ST. If he dedicates himself with Moffitt he could be a Laron clone.

People who follow LSU recruiting closely know how good this guy will be, very underrated like Rashard Robinson last year. I know there were other factors involved like not spooking Jamal Adams, but Battle was a big reason LSU didn't move on Hootie Jones after he decommitted from Bama.
