Change "Welfare" to "Transitional Living Fund"
Mmmmmkay. A couple of things:
#1. Does changing what we call it in any way change what it does?
#2. Using "transitional" implies that its "temporary". If we start putting time limits on this, I'll be all for the name change.
But I doubt thats what Sheila's aiming for.

Sure, it could make marginal people feel better about their being dependent on society for their existence, it could confuse some dolts that vote into believing that welfare has not become a massive inefficient bureaucracy that causes damage to society as a whole, and it is good for the progressive political agenda.

What's sad is how harmless the word "welfare" already is. I mean really, it doesn't get more benign. So in ten years, transitional living fund will also be a "bad" word.

I always can't remember the name of the bitch that was complaining about her new housing that was built after Katrina. She and her lovely daughter had lived in the projects for FORTY THREE YEARS and her new digs including a 40 or bigger digital tube wasn't good enough for her standards.

Same thing with "food stamps". They changed it to EBT/SNAP and those are now "derogatory" terms (as is "Louisiana Purchase"
