Not trolling. Does he have a stellar resume that I need to review? Hot wife? How does this guy keep landing on his feet in so many desirable locations? Recruiting skills?

After the USC debacle I though we had heard the last of him for awhile.

This is why Saban hired him.

He is obviously an excellent bull shitter.

There is nothing in his résumé that warrants the jobs he has received.

Pretty impressive that he was able to fool Saban.

I am probably one of the few people that thinks he is a good offensive coach. I am at a loss as to what happened at USC...perhaps the job was too big for him. However, he did pretty well at UTenn all things considered for one year. He had a great run as the OC for USC. If you listen to one of his pressers, he really does "get it" relative to modern football, recruiting and what the kids want to hear.

I think Saban hired him for two reasons:
(1) He has knowledge of a pro-style offense that Saban runs and will run what Saban wants; and
(2) I think Saban hired him to effectively be the head coach of recruiting so that Saban does not have to expend as much energy on the recruiting trails as he has in the past...I think this is the first sign that Saban is contemplating retirement in the next few years and is attempting to lighten the load right now.

Good points but I can't see the master micro-manager lightening any loads. It's not in his DNA.

Posted this on tRant, but it's a quote from Matt Barkley. He's not a Lane fan.

quote:

"Kiff kind of suited the play-calling toward Marqise," Barkley said. "It was rough at times, because defenses kinda knew what was coming. It was sort of predictive. Robert Woods is a great player. … You want to be respectful of your coaches, because they are your elders, but when it falls on your shoulders, you probably should get involved."
