I'm about 30 minutes in and this is even more David lynchy than I imagined.

I really liked this one. Lost Highway was harder for me to follow than Mulholland Drive.

And Eraserhead was just more insane.

But yeah, Lynch had a period of coherence in the 80s and 90s, and he definitely got a hell of a lot weirder/harder to follow without 10 pages of cliff notes in the past 15 years or so.

Posting while watching a movie for the first time is always a good idea.

It actually is way more sensical and linear than other Lynch. I loved it.

Elephant Man, Blue Velvet, and Wild at Heart are all linear and sensical compared to Mulholland Drive.

I haven't seen Inland Empire, but that is supposed to be his weirdest. Straight Story is supposed to be the most linear and normal.

Just finished it. Wow. Naomi Watts incredible performance. Still trying to make it all fit but what a performance.

Mullholland Drive is certainly not "linear" but you can make some sense of it with repeat viewings. Inland Empire? Forget it! I saw it one time and never thought there was any hope at all of solving it. I did enjoy it, but I didn't even know where to start in trying to make sense of it. Anytime I thought I had even the smallest detail worked out it all came crashing down in the next scene!
