I don't think he's a one-dimensional playcaller, just look at his days with Bush and Leinart.

I don't know if those are a good comparison. Those 2 would have gotten their yards no matter who was calling the offense. But I think he will just be doing what Saban says more than running his own offense anyways. It's more about how well he can coach the QBs.

There has got to be more to this story. Why did Nussmeier leave? Hoke and staff are liable to be fired after this next season. Nussmeier seemed to be killing it at Ala, and was starting to get interest as a HC. And is it just coincidence that Kiffin was brought to "consult" before Nussmeier left? Did Saban and Nussmeier fall out? The offense seemed pretty good to me.

Had to. Unless nuss thinks he will get the HC job at Michigan when it opens up next year

I'm just shocked that Bama fans think their offense is gonna get a ton better. They just finished a season:

5th in yards/play 6.95
17th in points/game 38.2
10th completion % 66.8
8th in yards/rush 5.8

I mean. They set offensive records across the board in 2012. Had a great offense that dominated this year. Yet, they run off that coach?

Saban will keep him under control.

IMO this is a great hire.

At USCw when Carroll was there, Sarkisian was the brains and offensive play caller. Lane was there for recruiting.

I think it's a good hire for sure. Rehab his image And Bama gets a solid offensive hire and fantastic recruiter.

Lane Kiffin is without argument one of the dirtiest coaches in football. This is a questionable hire at best. I would much rather have a coach with dignity and standards, than the shi* stain that is Kiffin. He will fit in well at a BAMA, and no he will not be a better OC than Doug Nussmier....

Kiffin hasn't proven he can do much without the talent USC had in a league with no defense. But we shall see.

Good thing Bama is loaded with offensive talent and very well could be adding a NFL lottery talent at QB in Coker.

Kiffin will kill it in recruiting and hopefully he won't be predictable like Nuss with his play calling. I can't wait for the affect this news will have on recruiting these next weeks.

Norm Chow was the USC OC 2001-04.

When was Lane such a wizard calling plays? Oakland? Tenn?

I think that this hire says they are really after Ed Orgeron.

2005-06 at USC. He improved UTk offense by about 60%. His first two years at USC weren't bad and then the scholarship sanctions took effect
