So, I know how to do conditional formatting, and like a lot of folks I'm sure, I use it mainly to color code my emails so I can see my most important ones blah blah blah.

Is there any way to sort based on those conditions? So if I have emails from executives as my top priority, is there a way til sort/filter so I can easily view just those emails.

it's not that big a deal picking and choosing them, but when the inbox gets into the hundreds, it gets a little annoying.

on the Home tab of 2010...far right side is a filter email button and one of the filter choices is by color code (categorized)...is that what you want?

I just click the search box, it opens up the Search tab which has a categorized button, you can select a color from there and it does the filter for you.

I don't think that's it.

That, if I understand correctly, is to filter by color code if I manually place a colored flag on the email.

i'm talking about having the entire text a specific color, font, bolded for specific contacts in my email, using the conditional formatting. I'm trying to auto filter based on that, if possible.

That gives the same options as the previous poster mentioned.

yeah, I think that one may be over my head. I dug in to the filtering a good bit to see what I could find, but didn't seem to have any luck based on your criteria. At least not after a quick look at everything.

Same here, I did a quick look and haven't come up with anything as of yet.

There's some jackleg in IT here that when his emails show up they are bolded and a different color. He won't tell me how he does it!

Also, along the same lines, does anyone know if you can color code different folders? I put emails in folders on the left hand side according to the project that they pertain to. I'd like to be able to make them different colors and bold them as well. Sorry if that's a hijack.

eta-I'm using Professional Plus 2010 if that matters.

Try this tutorial

The first part is showing how to setup the conditional formatting (which you don't need) the second part of the video (it's less than 3 minutes long) is how to setup a view which will basically do what you want.

So instead of "filtering" you'd change the view which would in turn act as a filter. It seems like you may have to setup different views for each of the conditional formats you have setup if you wanted them all to be filtered, but it seems it may be possible in a round-a-bout sort of way.

here's her non youtube instructions

I think this page is where she has the tutorial in just picture and instruction form instead of a video, so it may be of help until you get youtube access.

I didn't really read over the website since I watched the video, but I'm not sure if that site actually covers the same stuff as the video, it just says something about conditional formatting but it was linked from the video...anyway I think you've got what you need now
