Lots of that nonsense around here.
Here is a must read from SBNation on Indiana and their ascent from afterthought, even in their own town, to contender.
Hoosier Hysteria
If we want to talk blueprints, this is another franchise to study. Draft picks of their key guys- 10, 18, and 40. More than one way to be a contender.

Turn Gordon into a good veteran like Indy got with West and we are right where they were a few years ago. We need to get older, not younger.

yeah, I meant turn his salary into a West, not believe he'd develop into a West.

Loved reading about how West runs that locker room.

Redundant: that contract is just going to have to come off the books in two years. Only way out of it.

Joe Johnson, Okafor, Gerald Wallace. Untradables get traded semi regularly. Different teams have different priorities.

After reading that entire article:
It almost feels like a slap in the face to Western conference teams. Indiana was able to progressively grow and win games as a franchise in a very weak conference. They could afford to make bold moves and still beat out the Bucks/Celtics/Bulls/Wiz/76ers, etc. Props to them for making quality roster moves, but try that shite out West, and you'll likely end up the Kings/Jazz/Pelicans/Wolves, etc.

Honestly if we could flip 3 years/$14mil of EG in to 1 year/$14 mil of Danny Granger I'd take it. If Dannys great we resign him to a healthy contract, and if he sucks we cut bait. Danny's marginal value is comparable to No Knees Gordon, he'd probably even out in points but have a steady SF now. This year's a lost cause, might as well shake things up. What better way to start than with extricating the least likable player in franchise history

Better be careful with the Granger talk brother.
I've been hammered multiple times for mentioning his name.
Although its worth mentioning that he's quietly posting up solid numbers right now as a backup.
*Also a career 85% ft shooter, (96% this season). Dude can still ball.

I think Gordon is on the top 3 for least tradable contact. Dell isn't going to attach an asset to Eric to just dump him.

What? They were in the middle of the pack for years. You know, the one place many of the experts here say you can't be. If we subscribe to this theory, being in a weaker conference hurt them; they could never be bad enough to get a high draft pick. Yet here they are, arguably the best team on the planet, regardless of conference

There is so much wrong with this statement. Talk about rewriting history to fit today's narrative.

There is no way, no how Indiana trades him for Gordon. They are capped out, appear to be unwilling to pay the tax, and need all the room they can get to resign Stephenson. They aren't adding Gordon to lose Stephenson.

I think the problem is that not many think Davis + Holiday/Evans/Anderson are on the same level as George + Hibbert. But I disagree completely. AD > George and Hibbert is a B+ player like Holiday/Evans/Anderson, but he's on a max contract because he's a center and centers tend to get over paid.

I agree. The problem is that there is no perspective or patience- welcome to the internet.
I will say that Hibbert is a tad underrated. His rim protection and “verticality" are unparalleled in the league. No one else impacts the game like he does right now. He isn't the best or most skilled player, but he just dominates games.
