Jay-Z, the biggest biter in Hip-Hop History

LINK
Aside from lying about his drug dealing upbringing it's been brought to attention that many of his lines and flows are unoriginal.
Ala, "how many Biggie rhymes are gonna come out your fat lips".
The first half of the video presents plenty of BIG "inspired" lyrics, but the second half is what's interesting. Jay is blatantly stealing styles and flows from artists he isn't associated with.
So, how does this affect his legacy? I know he's considered to be comfortably sitting within the Top 15 Rappers DOA, but I would go as far as to put him in the 20s because of this.

I respect him more as a business man than a rapper.

As a biggie fan boy how do you feel about Jay-Z using so many of his lines?

More proof that Big is the greatest of all time

Well BIG is definitely Top 10 DOA, but what does that say about Jay Z? I mean some of his best songs were deviations from other artists. That screams lack of originality and style.

You must be new to hip hop because literally every rapper ever has bit a line or flow from someone.
shite, jay even talks about it with nas on takeover, "you made a hot line, i made it a hot song"

quote:Yeah but Dead Presidents was a sample of that line, that's not the same as biting lines or flows.

Wow, it seems that the rapper "Jay-Z" has been exposed. It's interesting, I don't listen to this genre myself but he seems to have a rather impressive "street credibility" which appears to be manufacturered in order to increase his appeal towards the younger generation. I will tell my grand kids to listen to more authentic rappers instead of this phoney.

This! Jay Z has been going at it for nearly 20 years, if not longer and this video is how you judge him? Of course he has taken lines from other rappers, it is what they do. And yes, they all do it. At least in a lot of his songs, he acknowledges who he is pulling it from. "got to thank the homie Nas for that though".
Please tell me which rappers you like and I can prob give you a few songs that they do it too.
Also, Google search Jay Z conspiracies. Literally hundreds of people trying to hate on him, it's what happens when you get to his point in life.

quote:Not true at all. For the BIG songs it's quite obvious it's a homage thing, but aside from the Nas shoutout he doesn't do that.

Lil Wayne
Game
50
Drake
Meek Mill...
Go.

I don't know the answer to this, so its not a loaded question, but if you Google Pac conspiracies or BIG conspiracies, do you get the same results of unoriginal material?

Drake was a wheelchaired kid on Degrassi and people think his streetcred cant be matched.
I think even Ray Charles can see through Drake's street credibility
