Coach in waiting at Bama totally fits with Lane's inexplicable career ascension.

That's the only conclusion I can draw - and there will be a laser focus by the NCAA on him, although the Bama shield might mitigate that.

Since Nick doesn't let Assistants talk to the media, his douchiness will be hidden.

Yes and anybody that says no is saying that because they don't like him. He's a great recruiter and his offenses at USC were explosive.

Now he's a terrible head coach

In 2005 Kiffin took over the play calling when Norm Chow went to the titans. Sark was the qb coach in 2005

Kiffin would be a perfect fit for Bama.

If Saban lets him anywhere near Bama he's totally lost his mind. I'd like to see it happen

The amount of butthurt Kiffin will cause the rant when this works out great will be glorious.

People are forgetting his failures came when he ran programs, not when he was just in charge of running an offense. There is no coach better at mitigating damage and controlling staff than Saban. Lane will just handle the offense and he is humbled, ready to change/adapt and will completely answer to Saban.

This should terrify most of you.

Lane will be a monster recruiter and an amazing OC. Threads like these should be pinned so we can laugh at them in another year.

Would it be a bad idea to try to lure Dameyune Craig away from Auburn? I know he is an alum there, but he has been on a Saban staff before. He has learned under Jimbo and Malzahn, and he seems to be an excellent recruiter. I would think that it would be more than a lateral move since he is only considered co-coordinator at Auburn right now.

Kiffin's credentials are better. Despite his flaws, which were evident under the media spotlight as HC at USC, he has the potential to be a very good OC working within Saban's system. Bama fans are still reeling from the Sugar Bowl loss to OU, and they know the abuse they will get if Kiffin is their new OC, but from a purely technical perspective, he is a good fit there.

Except that none of Bama's players fit Kiff-Kiff's style...

Kiffin won't be making his own system there. He'll adhere to Saban's system and work within that framework.

Kiffin is slam dunk hire for Bama. Awesome offensive mind and classy person. Great recruiter too, completely squeaky clean no hint of any shady business. As a LSU fan this hire scares me. Wouldn't shock me if Oregeron isn't next.

Well USC did almost 3 peat with him as the OC.

norm chow was the offensive coordinator for the 03 and 04 team. In 05, kiffin was calling plays for one of the most talented offenses in college football history.
