I don't want this misconstrued because I just don't follow high school football enough but what I do know from watching Leonard Fournette's highlights is that he's an absolute beast.

My question is this- why the big drop between his junior and senior seasons?

Junior season: 2135 yards and a crazy 31 TDs.
Senior season: 1166 yards and just 10 TDs.

What this a just a bad year for St. Aug in general? Did opponents put 9 defenders in the box to stop him? Just wondering why such a large discrepancy between the two seasons.

Leonard, if you're reading this, please don't kill me. I know you're going to shatter records at LSU and can't wait to watch you run wild.

He's had A LOT of pressure for one. St Augs OLine was unreal his sophomore and junior seasons but had a decent drop off this year, and teams loaded up the box and tried to make the QB beat them. Not really a knock on him at all he's legit.

Pretty sure they took him out at the end of a good amount of games because of the score.

The last couple times I saw them on TV they were running 5 wide, with him at WR, on nearly every play.

3,697 all purpose yards in 2013, they moved him around more maybe?

Yeah he definitely caught a ton of passes this season compared to last. Plus he played stiffer competition ex. Curtis, Karr and Catholic league as always.

The times I saw him they threw him the ball a good bit. Tried to move him around and get it to him in different ways.

He barely got the ball... Used as a decoy a lot.

this is a terrible explanation; I'm assuming it has no basis in reality.

Plus he had a good amount of return yardage.

He didn't run the ball 250, 350 like a lot of the other backs and he only played in 11 games.

Glad you posted that. As you can see, he did more than just run the ball this season.

know some comes from kick offs and punt returns but this number is crazy! 25 TDs too.

Your stats are wrong. Fournette put up over 1700 yards rushing senior year.

One thing I noticed in the games I saw was they lined him up a lot at receiver with his brother at tailback. The game vs Jesuit he played more WR than RB I believe

It's called the Crutchfield factor.

i think that he will be pretty valuable for us in the passing game with hill coming back, look for lf to split out wide a bunch next year methinks.

and be the whip man on the jet sweep with hill playing by the qb. don't think it ain't happening

The one full game I got to see was just like this. He may have gotten 3 carries from a traditional running formation. Then at the end of the game, his brother got those type carries.
